Kindness, E-readers and Justin Bieber

December 27, 2012

My parents bought me a Kindle Touch for Christmas. My dad’s colleague’s wife bought herself a Kindle and when his colleague told my dad about it, he decided I should have one as well. I read a lot so he thought it would be perfect. Then we found out about the Kobo that was recently released in the country. So before he bought the Kindle we decided to check out both products. The Kobo Touch is half the price of the Kindle Touch and I figured, hey if they both work as well I may as just get the Kobo. To me they’re both the same, each has it’s disadvantages but my mom decided that we should take the Kindle because Amazon is a reputable company.
At Makro while I was fiddling with the Kindles on display another lady was purchasing a Kindle for her husband and we chatted about e-readers and e-books for a bit. She gave me the loveliest compliment ever. EVER!
‘I can see in your eyes that you are a reader.’

That comment made my day. It still makes me happy. Since it was my Christmas present, I decided I was going to wrap it and open it on Christmas day. You know just for the Christmas spirit. I left it on my bed and went to the kitchen to made lunch for the family. My brother who was visiting home that weekend had other plans. He and my dad opened my Christmas present nearly a month before Christmas. My father claims that they opened it because ‘we must check that it’s working because the store guarantee is only 7 days and if anything happens after that it has to go through the manufacturer. I ended up going through it and putting a few books on from Amazon. , Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and a few others before storing it.
I decided to prank my brother this Christmas. I grabbed an old cd cover and printed out a Justin Bieber cover. I pretended that it was his gift. We had been joking with one another that we were going to get Justin’s latest album for one another so when he saw the cd shaped gift he thought I actually had got it. I actually got him a game for his Kinect. Check out my epic design skills, ha ha.

My brother's always teasing me. I thought I'd get him back for a change. My mom also says it's a good book, plan on reading it soon.
