Visiting a salon or spa is as good as a holiday, and I am in desperate need of one. In May, at the first #ECMeetup I won a voucher for a power manicure at Sorbet Walmer Park. I hadn’t used it earlier because I’m not often in the city. This past Friday I wrote my last exam and thought it would be an ideal treat after a tough semester.
I being my spectacular self, entered the manicure area à la Sherman Klump and managed to knock over of one the beauty therapists trays with my bag. They were quite nice about it though. The salon also has a high ratio of beauty therapists on duty.
The Sorbet Walmer Park power manicure experience
The power manicure is the full manicure experience. My beauty therapist Zanda, shaped my nails, exfoliated my hands and massaged them and lathered them with cream. The hand massage was most definitely the favourite part of the experience. It was so relaxing, if it wasn’t for the fact that I sat upright, I probably would have fallen asleep. But it probably was a good thing I didn’t. The last time I fell asleep in public was on a plane, and judging by the looks I got from other passengers when we disembarked, I probably drooled. Or snored. Don’t judge me I was tired. And hungover.
For my nail colour, I decided to go with nail polish, even though Zanda recommended gel polish. With colour choice I decided to go out of my comfort zone, as I normally prefer pink, peach or coral shades. I chose Morgan Taylor’s West Coast Cool, which is a bright creamy blue. It’s vibrant and opaque, definitely a great shade for summer.
I’d definitely make an appointment again at Sorbet Walmer Park when I’m in the city area, but for pedicure. Their pedicure chairs look super relaxing and perfect to nap in.
