• A System Professionals and Salon Nouvo experience

Late last year I attended the Port Elizabeth media launch of System Professional hair products at Nouvo salon in Walmer. I also received a few products to try and I’ll review them at the end. System Professional products allow dull and limp hair to be reborn and feel like virgin hair. According to the brand, each individual has a hair energy profile that is as unique as our fingerprints (even if you’re a twin). So basically because each person has a different hair profile, different products will work for different people. The products work towards rebuilding your energy profile and this is done through an Energycode mapping. After the launch,…

  • How to make a super easy DIY Avocado Mask

Have you seen the cost of avocados these days? With the drought and inflation, the costs of avocado is getting so high, soon only the rich will be able to afford them. Which is why when I do have one, nothing can go to waste. Back when I was younger, my friends and I used to make our own face masks from items in our kitchens such as eggs, yogurt and avocado. Of course back then you didn’t need to sell a limb in order to afford one. The other day I was making a salad, and I had half an avocado left from the day before and the following day…

  • Treating Myself this Valentine’s Day with Rain Africa Fizz Balls

Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching and my love life is as barren as the drought that the country is currently experiencing. I can hear the collective “ag shame”, but I think being single is as awesome as you make it. Just because I’m single doesn’t mean I can’t treat myself. After a few days off from work, I was pleasantly surprised when I found a package with three of the new Rain Africa Fizz Balls waiting on my desk. I received Pomegranate Heart, Stardust and Lemon Fizz. The only balls from the range of Rain Africa Fizz Balls, that I did not receive was Beehive and Boat. Rain Africa describes Beehive…

  • Sorbet Walmer Park power manicure experience

Visiting a salon or spa is as good as a holiday, and I am in desperate need of one. In May, at the first #ECMeetup I won a voucher for a power manicure at Sorbet Walmer Park. I hadn’t used it earlier because I’m not often in the city. This past Friday I wrote my last exam and thought it would be an ideal treat after a tough semester. I being my spectacular self, entered the manicure area à la Sherman Klump and managed to knock over of one the beauty therapists trays with my bag. They were quite nice about it though. The salon also has a high ratio…
